When you are planning your engagement session, you want to find a way to celebrate your love story. There is a good chance you’ve been dreaming about this moment for years, and now that it’s here, you need the perfect spot to commemorate it. That’s exactly why I’m here. As a Washington, D.C. wedding photographer, I have gotten the chance to support countless couples as they plan this one-of-a-kind session. If you are planning your Annapolis engagement photos, I would love to tell you about some of my favorite places you can use for your backdrop!
One of my favorite ways to tie in the city aesthetics is by incorporating Historic Downtown Annapolis into engagement photos. There are a number of places that will serve as a gorgeous backdrop.
This brick manor offers everything from picturesque wooden bridges to extensive gardens that you can explore. One of the most beloved spots for your portraits is the Summerhouse. This tall white structure stands proudly on a hill with a Japanese-style bridge nestled just in front. Once you’re done here, you can spend an hour wandering through the hedges or exploring the fields.
The Naval Academy is a large property that provides you with a number of Beaux-Arts classical buildings. The grounds are pretty strict on entry and require that all visitors have an ID on them. Once you’re in, you will have the chance to take engagement photos at the Annapolis chapel, inside the gardens, and inside Bancroft Hall. You will find plenty of spaces where you can get waterfront views.
This scenic park offers 340 acres to explore throughout your session. The main feature is a large reflection pool with fountains in the center and some of the bluest water you have ever seen. There are also trails you can traverse to explore lush gardens and colorful gazebos. This park is dog-friendly, so you can include your best friend!
if you are looking for a place with waterfront views, this is the spot for you. This park is nestled on the Severn River and provides you with plenty of trails you can incorporate throughout your session. They have piers that go out over the water so you can get as close as possible. They do require prior authorization and permits before your photo session.
Once you’re done with your engagement photos over in Historic Annapolis, take a sailboat out on the Chesapeake Bay. After all, there’s a reason why this city is considered the Sailing Capital of the United States! These waters are truly iconic, with expansive views of picturesque waters. Annapolis has several companies that let you charter a sailboat. You can have a guide take you out to the best place. Then you can have pictures that celebrate the best aspects of this city. Trust me, your pictures are going to be unforgettable.
If you could still use a little help planning your Annapolis engagement photos, I would love to connect. As a Washington, D.C. wedding photographer, I adore getting to help couples find the perfect way to honor their love story. I would love to have a conversation and tell you more about my sessions so you can decide if I’m the photographer for you. Let’s chat soon!
