Whether you are celebrating your engagement with a photo session or need a scenic spot to tie the knot, this breathtaking venue has all you need for your celebration! As a wedding photographer, I get to go behind the scenes of some of the best venues. Here’s everything you need to know about Montage Palmetto Bluff. 

About The Montage Palmetto Bluff Wedding Venue

477 Mount Pelia Road, Bluffton, South Carolina 29910

Located in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, Montage Palmetto Bluff gives you 20,000 acres with serene views everywhere you turn. The grounds feature a little bit of everything, including a nature preserve, two villages with Southern-inspired high dining, a marina, and a golf course. The two chapels on the site have made this a favorite spot for couples looking for a wedding venue that’s nothing short of luxurious! They also offer lodging accommodations such as cottages, guest rooms, suites, and village homes. From the second you step on the grounds, you will be in a world of pure relaxation!

Details of the Grounds

Over the years, Montage Palmetto Bluff has become a favorite wedding venue for countless couples. They do so much to elevate your experience, so your day is a total dream! If you choose this spot, your day will start out in your room or cottage. With either option, you are going to have plenty of space to gather with your wedding party and get ready for the ceremony. Once you have on all the finishing touches, you can head outside to get pictures of your party.

For your ceremony, you will have several options, including two chapels. Both the Somerset Chapel and the May River Chapel are decorated with a completely neutral backdrop that will perfectly accommodate your style. They each have arched windows that show off the waterway on the property. The rooms become transcendent once the sun starts to set! The May River Chapel will hold up to 120 guests, while the Somerset Chapel will hold up to 185 guests. 

If you would prefer an outdoor celebration, you will be able to use several spaces across the grounds. The Village Green is the largest with the capacity for up to 500 guests. It overlooks the May River and features the ruins of the Wilson Mansion. The Boat House Lawn is another popular option. This space will be able to accommodate up to 300 guests and features large oak trees that provide the perfect amount of shade.

If you would like something by the buildings on the property, you can use the Sunrise Lawn. This space is near the inn and offers enough room for up to 400 guests. You will be surrounded by manicured lawns and a maritime forest.

Cocktail Hour And Beyond At Montage Palmetto Bluff

The venue will work with you to find a place for your cocktail hour. For those using a ballroom for your reception, you will be able to use the foyer leading into the celebration space. Montage will also help you find an outdoor lawn space for this portion of your celebration. 

Your night will conclude with your reception. You will have several options for this. If you would prefer something indoors, you can use the Oak Ballroom or the Wilson Ballroom. The Oak Ballroom is the ideal spot for an intimate celebration. In this room, you will be able to accommodate up to 115 guests. The French doors and windows are going to give you superb views of the sunset! Meanwhile, the Wilson Ballroom serves as an extravagant place where you can celebrate with up to 350 guests.

The venue allows you to use the outdoor spaces for your reception. The Moreland Crossroads Lawn tends to be a favorite! This space has a permanent stage for your entertainment and can hold up to 300 guests.

Photography Opportunities

Montage Palmetto Bluff is beloved by photographers for good reason! The natural beauty combined with elegant structures leads to the dreamiest backdrop you could imagine. While you will have gorgeous wedding pictures, I can also recommend the grounds for engagement portraits. Whether you want to hold hands on a sunlit pier or share a kiss in front of the chapel, you are going to have pictures you adore! As the sun sets behind the Spanish Moss covered Live Oaks, you’ll have the prettiest glow and the dreamiest photos. Truly, the grounds provide endless backgrounds you can use for your portraits.

Wedding Details

Finally, let’s chat about all the ways Montage is going to spoil you! They turn each and every wedding into an unforgettable experience. I would highly suggest renting a house or a suite to use throughout your wedding weekend. They have several spaces where you can host your rehearsal dinner. There is also an on-site spa where you can relax and be pampered before your celebration. When it comes to your food, you will have some of the best catering around! Their culinary team delights in finding new ways to elevate Southern classics. They will work with you to create a menu that’s ideal for your day. There will be a valet service available to your guests throughout your weekend, and the grounds are wheelchair accessible to ensure everyone feels welcome.
