When you are planning your DC wedding, you probably don’t want to run a thousand different places throughout your day. The truth is that while this city is one of the most beautiful in the country, it can also be pretty stressful. By choosing a hotel wedding, you can have all the accommodations you need in one easy and luxurious setting. As a Washington, DC, wedding photographer, I have gotten the chance to work with many couples who have chosen to use a hotel for their event. If you could use some recommendations, I would love to tell you why you should consider a Westin Georgetown wedding, where Ellen and Danny said “I Do.”
2350 M Street N.W., Washington, District of Columbia 30037
While Westin Georgetown isn’t exactly one of the more established buildings in the city, it blends in effortlessly. The hotel was originally built in 1984, using classical European influences in its construction. The tan brick building stands proudly on the corner, serving as a tribute to the city through its large arched entry and green-domed top. The interior is modern, with a circular lobby outfitted with cozy yet stylish furniture.
The hotel itself is here to make your stay as luxurious as possible. There is a large lap pool to the side of the courtyard, and many of the rooms have balconies that let you look down below. Throughout your stay, you will have access to a fitness center outfitted with Peloton bikes. You will also be within walking distance of some of the best restaurants, theaters, and museums in the city. As a result you will have no shortage of exciting adventures for you and your guests throughout your wedding weekend!
Westin Georgetown provides both indoor and outdoor spaces that you can use throughout your wedding. For those who want to keep things outdoors, you will have access to the European-style courtyard. This area is enclosed by the hotel, giving you privacy from any wedding crashers. There is an Italian fountain you can use as your backdrop as you exchange vows. The grounds are paved to ensure your heels aren’t sinking into the grass.
For those who prefer to escape DC’s unpredictable climate, you can use the Washington Ballroom. This rounded room is well-lit for your pictures and offers white walls and a statement chandelier. There is a lobby right outside where your guests can mingle before the ceremony starts. You can also choose The Promenade, which has wooden floors, high ceilings, and elegant columns. The Promenade will be able to host up to 200 guests, and the courtyard can host up to 100 guests.
Most couples choose to have an indoor reception at the Westin. The Promenade will give you the most space. The room is split-level, giving you a unique way to accommodate all your guests as well as your entertainment. The Washington Ballroom is an open space that can arrange your guests however you need. You’ll have plenty of room to set a dance floor for late-night festivities. If you do choose to have this portion of the evening outdoors, you will have enough room for an elegant cocktail reception.
If you choose to have most of your wedding indoors, you will be able to reserve the courtyard for your cocktail hour. Inside, you can use the lobbies leading into the ballrooms so your guests have a convenient spot to grab a drink before it’s time to party.
The venue provides you with a complimentary wedding suite for your wedding. You will be able to use this space before your ceremony to put on all the finishing touches, and you will have a comfortable place to crash when everything is over.
The Promenade is refined with polished wooden floors, mahogany columns, white walls, and wooden accents. The room is bright and airy thanks to its large French windows. Two stairs lead to a platform where you can put the bridal table. There are can lights built into the ceiling and pendants to light up the space. The Washington Ballroom is rounded with a white domed ceiling and a statement chandelier. There is light purple carpet that adds a bolt of color. While the courtyard has windows that look out into the space from the interior, these can be curtained off to reduce distractions. There are bistro lights to illuminate the space. There are vining plants throughout, and the fountain stands as the central focal point.
While you are getting ready, you will be able to use the Westin Georgetown balcony to get natural lighting so you can show off your wedding makeup. The nearby waterfront will be ideal for pictures with your bridal party as well as couple portraits. The ballrooms are well-lit to ensure your wedding pictures show off every detail of your celebration. You will also be able to find countless spots around the property where you can take your pictures.
The Westin Georgetown will make sure you have all you need for a legendary wedding weekend! They can provide you with room blocks so you can have all your guests nearby. You will also have a complimentary wedding suite to use after the party wraps up. Their accommodations include planning, rentals, and equipment. There will be support staff on-site to make sure your event runs smoothly. The hotel will provide you with catering and can work with you to make sure you have a meal that is worthy of your party! They can also handle drinks, cakes, and other desserts. The grounds are wheelchair-accessible. The hotel is dog-friendly, giving you the chance to include your best friend in your celebration.
With the Westin Georgetown wedding venue, you will have all that you need for a sophisticated DC wedding. As far as capturing all the details, that’s what I am there for! I am a Washington, DC, wedding photographer, and I adore working with couples to ensure they can remember every second of their day. If you have been looking for your wedding photographer, I would love to have a conversation and tell you all about my style so you can decide if I’m the one for you.
