Make Your Day Perfect: A Springfield Manor Wedding Guide

Nestled into the hills of Thurmont, Maryland, is a beautiful historic estate turned inn and distillery known as Springfield Manor. While they are known for their award-winning whiskeys, wines, and beer, their beautiful property and manor house are also renowned as a stunning event space for lavish, elegant weddings. If you’re searching for a venue that incorporates the beauty of nature, tenderly cared-for farmland, and a gorgeous historic estate, you should strongly consider a Springfield Manor wedding

Sabrina and Travis chose a late November day to say their “I Do’s” surrounded by their friends and family. The couple chose a classic color palette, but kept their day fun and modern with elements such as the mobile coffee bar. From start to finish, it was a day filled with joy and love!

About The Springfield Manor Wedding Venue

Springfield Manor is a beautiful historic home that dates back centuries to 1774. Today, the property serves as a cozy inn, an award-winning winery and distillery, and a private event space. Surrounding the Manor are 130 acres of gorgeous farmland, many of which are still devoted to growing produce to be used in their craft liquors and wines. In fact, Springfield Manor is also home to a limestone aquifer that lies beneath the estate, producing fresh Limestone Spring Water that they use in their rums, gins, and whiskeys!

Originally, the property was part of a land grant gifted back in the 1740s. It exchanged hands several times in the centuries that followed but was eventually purchased by the current owners, the Baker family. They saw the potential of the property to become a thriving vineyard, and they began planting estate vineyards and producing wine in the early 2000s. Since then, the Bakers have worked hard to meticulously restore the property, more recently expanding into an inn and a distillery.

The estate exudes natural grandeur, surrounded by orchards, parks, streams, farmland, and rolling hills. In the summertime, the property comes to life with vibrant greenery and distinct florals, and in the fall, the land comes alive with bold autumnal colors. Nearby are shops, streams, covered branches, and other historic sites that are ideal for a restful, restorative getaway in the Maryland countryside. You can also spend time wandering through Springfield Manor’s gorgeous lavender fields, cornfields, and vineyards or cozy up by the fire pit while enjoying one of their estate wines, craft beers, or specialty liquors.

Onsite Accommodations

When you host your wedding at Springfield Manor, you and your guests have the option to take advantage of onsite accommodations. Eight cozy suites are available, each comfortably decorated with a vintage and antique-inspired aesthetic. These adult-only suites are perfect for members of the wedding party or close family who can take full advantage of the convenience of staying in the same spot as your celebration!

Details of the Grounds

Springfield Manor’s beautiful land is a gorgeous backdrop for a countryside wedding. This beautiful, secluded property sits surrounded by acres of farmland, rolling hills decorated with trees, and stunning grounds.

Begin your day by getting ready in the bridal lounge with your bridal party and closest family. This bright, open space has plenty of room for hair and makeup and tons of gorgeous light for traditional getting-ready pictures. There’s also a large floor-length mirror that is ideal for full-body dress shots and other creative photos. Your partner can get ready with their party in the Groom’s Cigar Lounge, a more casual and cozy space designed for kicking back and relaxing before the big day. You’ll also have full access to these spaces throughout the duration of your wedding day in case you want to steal a private moment, touch up your makeup, or just take a break from the crowd!

Ceremony And Beyond Details of a Springfield Manor Wedding

Hold your ceremony outdoors, utilizing the incredible scenery as a breathtaking backdrop. Springfield Manor has a beautiful open-air white pergola ideal for vow exchanges, overlooking rolling hills of green trees. You can adorn the pergola with your signature florals or drapery for a customized look that sets your stunning ceremony apart from any others.

Then, while you and your partner steal away to take photos, your guests can enjoy mingling in the courtyard of the Manor for cocktail hour. With the beautiful stone inn as a backdrop and lush, comfortable grass hosting fun outdoor games and entertainment, your guests will love kicking off your celebration in style.

Inside the Manor is the absolutely gorgeous ballroom with sophisticated decor and an unmistakable air of elegance. Walls of windows let in plenty of natural light, and unique chandeliers add a farmhouse-glam aesthetic. There’s plenty of room for everyone on the dance floor without sacrificing comfortable space for you and up to 300 guests.

Springfield Manor also houses a beautiful barn with warm elements like wooden beams and other antique touches. All of that makes a perfect rustic barn-inspired wedding.

Photography Opportunities

Springfield Manor boasts some amazing and totally unique wedding photo opportunities. The views of the surrounding hills and rolling fields alone are beautiful photo backdrops for family photos or wedding party shots. Depending on the time of year you choose your wedding date (mid-June or September), the Springfield Manor lavender farms may be in bloom. These beautiful purple blooms are exquisite for photos, especially when Golden Hour descends, and everything comes to life with a beautiful golden glow. The vineyards are another unique opportunity to include some of their beautiful agriculture, especially for wine enthusiasts! Corn fields are another great way to incorporate the natural landscape in pictures.

Additionally, the rustic stone exterior of the Manor is ideal for intimate portraits. The property is also home to plenty of beautiful features like tiered fountains and landscaped gardens that are perfect settings for stunning wedding photos.

Wedding Details

Springfield Manor is home to a dedicated and experienced staff who will help you execute the wedding of your dreams. You will need to utilize their exclusive caterer, Carriage House Caterers. But rest assured that they boast years of consistent, reliable work. While Springfield Manor became a well established distillery, brewery, and winery, you don’t have to use their products. In fact, many couples choose to bring in their own alcohol to save a bit of money on their budget. (That said, a bottle of a Springfield Manor specialty does make a wonderful gift for bridesmaids, groomsmen, parents, and other important people on your wedding day!)
