A Picture-Perfect Day at The Inn at Perry Cabin Wedding Venue

Located on the shores of Maryland, The Inn at Perry Cabin wedding venue is an idyllic spot ready to help you set sail on a lifetime adventure. This exclusive resort is complete with sprawling lawns and grand ballrooms that will set your wedding day over the top. As a Washington, DC, area wedding photographer, I am lucky enough to go behind the scenes of some of the best venues around. After spending a beautiful summer day photographing this editorial, here is everything you need to know about hosting a The Inn at Perry Cabin wedding.

About The Inn at Perry Cabin Wedding Venue

308 Watkins Lane, St. Michaels, Maryland 21663

Shortly after the end of the War of 1812, the inn opened its doors for the first time. At that point, it was a farm for a Navy soldier fresh from the cuffs of battle. Samuel Hambleton designed the north wing of the home to look like the Commodore Perry’s cabin on his flagship “Niagara.” While the house has changed quite a bit since then, the name stuck. It was bought and sold a number of times until The Meyerhoff family purchased it in 1980. They were the ones who transformed it into an inn and set out on a long chain of transformations. Today, the house is a bit larger with 3 buildings, 82 rooms, a restaurant, and a fitness center. They now take a special focus on creating a legendary experience you will want to remember for years to come!

Details of the Grounds

With The Inn at Perry Cabin, your day will begin in one of the resort rooms. With their spacious suites, you are going to have plenty of room to get ready for your ceremony. The resort allows you to buy out the entire property, giving you and your partner separate rooms to prepare for the day.

Most couples decide to take advantage of the waterfront views by holding their ceremonies on the lawn outside the resort. The Pointe is going to put you right by the Miles River, giving you the rolling blue water just behind your altar. This area is ready to hold up to 250 guests. If you would like a more intimate outdoor space, you will adore The Croquet Lawn. This manicured space gives you a quaint greenhouse for your backdrop. This area will hold up to 130 guests. Once your ceremony is over, your guests can hang around and play a game of Bocce Ball!

There are several spots the resort reserves for your cocktail hour. If you hold your ceremony at The Croquet Lawn, your guests can remain here and enjoy drinks while playing lawn games. Over at The Wetlands, they can watch the sun sink beneath the water while relaxing beneath the old willows. Finally, The Cove gives you a cafe-style area with bistro lights that illuminate the zinnias.

Stunning Receptions At The Inn at Perry Cabin Wedding Venue

If you want to host your reception outside, the venue has you covered! The Linden Lawn is a positively divine space where you will be surrounded by wildflowers. They give you the ability to cover this space with a sailcloth tent or a framed tent. For smaller outdoor receptions, you can use The Cove, where you can host up to 80 guests. If you would prefer something indoors, you can use The Commodore Ballroom. This intimate space can hold up to 80 guests. You will be able to celebrate in a space with large ceilings and a wood-burning fireplace.

Photography Opportunities

With The Inn at Perry Cabin, you are going to have plenty of spots where you can take pictures throughout your wedding day. The luxury guest rooms offer large windows and walk-out decks, giving you tons of natural lighting for your candid get-ready pictures. Once you are ready to take more formal pictures with your wedding party, you can head outside, where you can use the wildflowers as your backdrop. The Pointe is going to be your perfect spot for group portraits. This area will give you the water as a backdrop while providing a flat space that’s accessible to people of all ages and abilities.

If you want a way to elevate your couple’s portraits, I think I have just the thing! True to Samuel Hambleton’s legacy, the venue offers a fleet of sailboats you can take out over the water. Not only is this a great way to tour the grounds, but it’s also perfect for your portraits. As you set sail into the sunset, you can share a kiss. This once-in-a-lifetime picture is going to be something you treasure forever!
